Lub D Samui Hotel Review – Koh Samui, Thailand
Welcome to paradise on Koh Samui! If you’re searching for the ultimate beachfront accommodation that combines comfort, affordability, and a vibrant social atmosphere, look no further than Lub D Samui. This exceptional hostel and hotel is a haven for solo female travelers seeking an unforgettable adventure.
Warning: I stayed here for four nights and rarely left the hotel. There was no reason to (besides joining their pub crawl).

Best for...
Solo travelers looking for a social experience while living in your bathing suit! This hotel felt like a vacation from my vacation, a place where I could play and relax and not have to think!
Check-in
Lub D knows how to make you feel special right from the start. The check-in lounge is not just a place to get your room keys; it feels like a fancy hangout spot. At 4:30, new-comers meet in the restaurant for welcome drinks to kickstart the fun. I met amazing people right away during this welcome drink session and we were encouraged to form teams for quiz night (we rocked it!).
Price
This isn’t this the cheapest hostel…because THIS ISN’T A HOSTEL. It is SO much more. It’s more like a beach club meets a social club meets a hostel. If you want to make friends without any effort, the price at Lub D is an absolute steal considering everything they offer.
Location
Situated in the bustling Chaweng area of Koh Samui, Thailand, this hotel is rright in the heart of Chaweng Beach area, offering guests unparalleled access to white sandy beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a variety of local attractions. You can walk to the beach or you can walk to the Chaweng Night Market. This is prime location!
Room and Bed
Are you a private room traveler? The beds are cozy and the rooms are so stylish. Book the private room with pool view! The balcony makes for the best people watching.
Are you a backpacker looking to stay in the dorms? The dorm rooms are clean and spacious, with stairs instead of ladders!
Pool Vibe
The pool at Lub D is an absolute paradise. Picture yourself surrounded by palm trees, enjoying the vibrant seafoam green tiles, and soaking up the sun. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, relax, and meet fellow travelers. The only downside? There could be more lounge chairs, but hey, it’s just another excuse to make new friends!
Food and Drink
I ate and ate and ate here! The menu never disappointed. From burgers to pasta and pizza! I couldn’t get enough.
Social Vibe
Lub D manages to create an environment that’s glamorous, resort-like, and yet incredibly social. It’s like attending a party hosted by your coolest friend, where you’re surrounded by diverse groups of friends you haven’t met yet. The hotel is designed to foster connections and make memories that will last a lifetime.
There is quiz night, pub crawl, game night, and happy hour that makes it easy to meet other travelers.
Activities
Trust me, you won’t be bored for a second. Head to their activities desk to plan thrilling boat trips, elephant encounters, or even a visit to Pig Island. The possibilities are endless! My two favorite activities were paddle boarding, and the beach clean-ups every Tuesday which give you an opportunity to make a positive impact on the local community.
How to Spend Your Day
Start your day with breakfast overlooking the ocean. Then jump on a boat trip to Pig Island through their activities desk. Return to the hotel for a refreshing swim in the pool, where you can mingle with fellow travelers or work on your tan. In the evenings, there is always an event, whether it be the pub crawl or a DJ.
WIFI
Stay connected and share your incredible experiences with the world! Lub D offers reliable and fast WIFI throughout the hotel, ensuring you can update your social media, video call your loved ones, or simply catch up on your favorite shows during some downtime.
Staff Hospitality
The staff at Lub D are like camp counselors! Always leading some events and fun! The event staff are mostly Western and the restaurant and bar staff are Thai. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
Noise & Smell
Don’t worry about noise disrupting your much-needed beauty sleep at Lub D. Despite its lively and social atmosphere, the hotel manages to strike the perfect balance, providing a peaceful and quiet environment for relaxation whenever you need it.
One thing you’ll notice as soon as you step into Lub D is how fresh and clean it smells. The hotel maintains a pleasant and inviting atmosphere, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.

Lub D takes its commitment to the environment seriously. Through initiatives like beach clean-ups and recycling efforts, they actively contribute to bettering the environment around them. While there are some areas where they can further reduce single-use plastics, their dedication to sustainability is commendable.
Do I feel safe?
Safety is a top priority at Lub D. From their security staff to their 24/7 reception, they create a secure and comfortable environment for all guests. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely at ease and enjoyed the freedom to explore without worries.
